Our take on a great Belgian style deserves a great Belgian story, and you've probably never heard this one. The Comet Line is a famous escape line that operated between 1941 and 1944 during World War II. It was the brainchild of a 24-year-old Belgium woman, André de Jongh (known as Dédée), a young nurse who, at the outbreak of World War II, found herself nursing Allied soldiers and pilots shot down and stranded behind enemy lines. It was so named because of the speed needed to whisk stranded airmen through occupied France and Belgium to safety. Hundreds of lives were saved, and Comet is a small tribute to their efforts.

16oz can.
L: Hazy, copper colour with a short-lived head that reduces to a ring and leaves no lacing.
S: Faint aroma of candy and malt.
T: Barley sugar, Belgian yeast and a caramel aftertaste. Too sweet though.
F: Medium body with a heavy mouthfeel, moderate carbonation and a dry-ish finish.
O: Alcohol is obvious in the mouthfeel but not so much in the taste. It’s thick and heavy rather than hot. Becomes hard work pretty quickly.

A: The beer is hazy dark yellow in color and has some hues of amber. It poured with a finger high dense off white head that has very good retention properties and hardly died down.
S: Light aromas of pale malts and candi sugars are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and also has slight hints of spicy yeast.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer drinks quite well considering that its body is fuller in nature. It also hides any traces of alcohol very well from the taste.
Serving type: can
