Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 8/9/23.
Appearance: medium golden-yellow hue with plenty of haze and a thick finger of frothy ivory foam atop.
Smell: lightly sweet and subtly juicy with a tropical fruit type of aroma. It's super fruity; not at all what I would have expected from the Simcoe + Chinook combination.
Taste: earthy tropical fruit, like papaya and maybe guava, with a dash of sweetness and kind of a more herbal, earthy vegetal character as well. This is definitely more in line with my expectations for these hop varieties. Bitterness is on the low side. It's good; I don't think of Chinook in fruity IPAs, and it's interesting!
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and a decent creaminess.
Overall: I think what I like about this beer is its novelty. I've had an awful lot of IPAs in my day, and this one kinda sticks out for its different approach to these hop varieties.
