This beer is a strong dark German lager aged on oak chips with a heavier body and sweeter notes of caramel, light roast, dark fruit, and a clean finish.

16oz pour, nonic, at the brewery.
It’s red squirrel red. Ask a German to say that. There’s a creamy light off-white head.
Sweet and nutty. Low intensity of aroma.
Caramel, sweet tea, vanilla. It’s boozy in a rich liquor-like way while cold.
It’s a bit thin for its size. Moderate carbonation.
I like the idea of oak aging Doppelbocks; the vanilla and wood flavors are very complimentary to the style. The base beer here is very basic and the lack of depth is really where this beer with a long name needs improvement.
