Reviving old family beer recipes, Sig Luscher turns to pilsner for a clean, classic, tried and true beer flavored beer.

Sig Luscher Pilsner gets going with a nearly brilliantly clear golden-straw while floating a creamy white cap. The supple scent of fresh bread dough, grain and a mild floral sweet scent decorates the nose before the sweetness of light honey and powdered sugar accompanies a light bread and wafer flavor.

A smooth shift from sweetness to a hop balance bridges light flavors of apple, light vegetal and light sulfur dryness before trending herbal with fresh grasses, mint and lemongrass stemming from the hops.

Medium light and trending dry and crisp, the beer is a typical and standard pilsner-styled lager that is easy on the palate and served as a no-frills beer- just the way your granddad would have had it.

(shaker pint draft pour at Rolling Oven in Versailles)

had some higher hopes for this after the fey Hudy D just prior... the little story nuggets I harvested gave me the impression this would be something more; the visuals and language on the website screams revived brand... sadly, it's not a Bo (or Swiss?) Pils, but more so a simple adjunct lager in its flavor ways; at a stretch, maybe it has some German Pils characteristics (dryness) ... subdued grain malt expression, with a subtle grassy hop note... this is where 'reviewing to-style' can be a pointless drag... it's simply not a noteworthy brew (2364)

I this beer off the tapper at the brewery whilst eating a delicious hotdog after visiting Buffalo Trace with the old Oswego crew during our annual beer trip. The beer was a crisp pilsner with grain presence that was very sessionable and easy to drink.

IMHO - this beer is in a class of its own. So creamy and full bodied. Smooth. None of the harshness that some pilsners can have. One mouthfeel will have a subdued pleasant sweetness the next a rounded bitterness. So full of taste. If you are in central Kentucky seek it out. It’s a masterpiece. And if you are lucky enough to make it to the brewpub you won’t regret it.

Sig Luscher makes a solid pilsner. The bottle says since 1866, but a quick read of their website says the brewery was reopened in 2018. I'm glad they did. American pilsners seem to try too hard and end up tasting thick and chalky imo. This pilsner is crisp and clean. Maybe a bit of chalk on the after but well worth a try.

I have always heard do what you do best. Sig Luscher does pilsners best. Great flavors and very well balanced beer. Nothing to find wrong with this beer.
