Big Brains is a super saison that's double-dry-hopped with Mandarina Bavaria and Hallertau Blanc hops. Big Brains features tons of citrusy and spicy notes throughout, with hints of stonefruit in the nose and a bone dry finish.

Big Brains is 100% brewed with grain from Valley Malt in Hadley, Mass.

Big foamy pillowy rich head, great retention and Belgian lacing, hazy burnt orange color

Nose sweet wheat malt, mild citrus and fruity esters, light spicy phenols, little candy fruit, pithy citrus, grassy floral hop

Taste more doughy wheat malt, little tangy tartness, citrus orange zest, pome fruit ester notes, some green pepper and phenol peppery notes, little spicy phenols, spicy hops with medium light bitterness, sweetness, drier finish lingering bitterness and spicy like hops

Mouth is med to slightly lighter bod, creamy wheat, creamy carb

Overall not bad, alcohol hidden well, good yeast additions

Enjoyed on tap at the brewery today.

A - Poured a nice hazy vibrant golden hue with a thick creamy head that fades to leave light lacing and a thin blanket.

S - Big aromas of gentle saison yeast, nice flashes of citrus peel and juicy oranges. Maybe little stone fruit, light grains, little spicy. Really aromatic.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of Mandarina and Hallertau hops. Nice just barely bitter finish. Really dry, finish is a little estery. Nice citrus peel, that complements the Belgian notes quite nicely. As it warms the bitterness lingers much more. No discernable alcohol.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, little crisp.

O - Overall this was a very solid Belgian saison. The bitterness overpowers just slightly but the saison and Belgian notes really come through.
