Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a dark mahogany brown with little light transmission in the glass, and a two finger light khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of biscuit and dark toasted malt, light cocoa and nuts. Flavor is biscuit and dark toasted malt with a touch of char, bakers chocolate, mild walnuts and light grassy hops. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A good rendition of this uncommon style that is finally getting some attention. The toasted malt has a pleasant light smoky char and there is good chocolate character. Overall aroma and taste are a little muted, but the flavor and balance are nice. Hops are also mild, but the light grassiness is in style.
