This is a post-prohibition style lager, named after the locally brewed Old Gold produced in the 1940's by the Reedsburg Brewery. Reviewed from notes.
Pale gold, with champagne streams of carbonation racing upward. Creamy cap of white foam that left a sticky crown of lace. Clean malt smell, rather nondescript.
Tart and lemony, clean and dry, pale/pilsner malt taste, finishes crisp and dry like champagne. Very light, and quenching on a hot summer day. I wasn't sure if the tartness was intentional, but it wasn't distracting. It was almost like a Berliner Weiss light.
