25 ounce crowler, filled on 8/8 at the brewery/taproom. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head that stuck around a little while. There's a small amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, vanilla and cinnamon. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of burnt/charred malt, licorice and dark bready flavors. I think the coffee and burnt/charred flavors stand out, but all the flavors are definitely noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's somewhat creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a pretty good imperial stout, certainly worth picking up if you're ever at Alematic. They did a great job with their version of Black Is Beautiful!
