A Flanders-style red sour ale matured in barrel with Videri cocoa nibs and refermented on gobs of Michigan Montmorency Tart Cherries. Elegent complex yet approachable.

A: Pours a slightly hazy medium reddish purplish amber in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation streaming quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate ruby red + honey + pale orange colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall fizzy foamy pinkish white head that slowly reduces to a medium to large sized patch of thin film covering approximately 45% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of tart/sour dark fruits (specifically cherries) over the top of moderate aromas of vinegar. Moderate aromas of chocolate/cacao nibs and moderate aromas of funkiness with a light amount of lacto tart lemon citrus. Hints of oakiness. Light aromas of slightly sour wheat malts + caramel + toasted malts.
T: Upfront there are light flavors of slightly sour wheat malts + caramel + toasted malts with minimal amounts of caramel sweetness. That is followed by hints of oakiness and a moderate flavor of funkiness. Next there are moderate flavors of chocolate/cacao nibs. Finally there are some hints of vinegar and moderate to strong flavors of tart/sour dark fruit (cherry) leaving a moderate acidic tartness lingering.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate to heavy amounts of acidic prickliness and a light amount of dryness in the finish.
O: Drinks fairly easily considering the style and the high amounts of tartness/sourness and acidity. Very enjoyable and complex flavor and aroma - love the oakiness + chocolate/cacao nibs + cherry combination. Very well done.
