I am nearing the end of my expedition of Canadian Beers. Thank you, Peter, for the experience. Thus far, the beers have been fabulous. The label says North American Pils; is this a new style?
I am using a belcher pint glass and serving at 44 degrees. The pour created a frothy and airy two-fingered head with average retention. The somewhat quick dissipation left bits of lacing on the glass. The pale straw yellow color charts around SRM 2. Haziness persists with little carbonation activity. I am not sure where to judge this beer's appearance. It has a proper head, but the retention was lacking a bit.
Nosing the beer, I get this odd but familiar smell. I detect corn, floral, earthiness, honey, lightly toasted malts, and light citrus-like lemons.
I am not sure what to think of this beer. I taste lemons, floral, a hint of white pepper, earthiness, honey, lightly toasted malts, and corn.
The mouthfeel is creamy and finishes crisp. The body is light and has low carbonation.
The unusual combination gives the beer a refreshing take on an American Lager with a pils twist. I enjoyed sipping on it.
