On a blistering hot day in June of 2022 we brewed a wheatwine with Kyle of Horus Aged Ales. Inspired by the classic strong ales of American brewing folklore, we modernized it with a big-time grain bill. This beer was fermented clean and cool with a neutral American yeast and then racked into Willett Bourbon barrels where it rested for 19 months. We let the carb ride low to show off the silkiness and chewy lactones of both barrel and libation. From start to finish we are dazzled with big notes of toffee caramel crunch, marzipan, leather, and molasses. Ready to drink or cellar to your heart's content.

Pours a very dark brown. Head is a finger of caramel foam. Light oil around the edges. Aroma is figs, toffee, molasses, and oak. Toasty and caramelly malts. Very light sticky hops. Transitions really well from initial sweetness to a dense heartiness. Flavor profile is fig, toffee, molasses, caramel, and dark fruits. Oak adds some additional structure. Toasty malts with mild roasty malts behind. Char comes on late. Really pleasant balance in this big beer. Mouth feel is thick. Light texture. Overall, well mannered and tempered BA option.
