not at all a flanders red, its an amber kettle sour from what i can gather, but nothing really fits on our category list here on BA, still no generic kettle sour to select. this is deep copper to almost brick red in color, frothy off white head an inch high and lasting pretty good, immediately complex to my senses. this is dry hopped pretty liberally it smells like, new world stuff, i get lime leaf, bitter orange, and a hint of cherry candy, all seemingly from the hops, very unique combination. the sourness is moderate and there is some funkiness too, slightly wild tasting, way more complex than most of these. the malt is sweet but not overly so, kilned and warming and rich, at first quite strange with the fruity hops, but it grows on my fast. the flavor here is awesome as well, complex in a weird way, i have never tasted anything quite like this, first the hops, then the funk, lastly some clean acid, weedy dankness, heavy berry, and bright citrus, wet and farmy with slight peppery character, almost a belgian yeast ester to it, very autumnal and earthy despite the fresh pop of the hops. this is so different, malty for a kettle sour, we dont usually see them like this, hopped in a super robust and modern way, but then also sort of interesting overall on the ferment, really a lot going on but it all comes together well. this is one of a kind, one of the more unique sours ive had in some time, and these guys continue to impress me!
