still no mexican lager category on this website, its time! anyway this is fire, a corn lager from this brewery that never seems to miss, brought back from their travels by my in laws, and it really hits, subtle, sweet in the right places, refreshing, herbal with a bit more of a hop presence than a lot of these have, grainy but clean overall, very summery and easy, could drink untold quantities of this. golden colored, radiant and clear, deeper than yellow but not too dark for the style or anything. the head retention is quick, but the carbonation is just fine. it smells a bit grainy, i get the corn sweetness and also earthy character from it, i get a light toasted note, a hint of honey or even honey nut cheerios cereal, floral hops late, and subtle citrus character from the lager yeast, short of crisp to me but its a tradeoff for character and its a good one i reckon. the flavor follows, this needs no lime, we get a hint of that from the hops and the ferment together, and i love how prominent the corn is in the flavor, cool minerality highlighting that elements as well, slow fade on the finish where all the elements, the simplicity, and also the cohesion can be appreciated, the carbonation pushes it slowly along, and this is refreshing and crushable, but also has more personality than most. excellent take on the style, thankful to have been able to enjoy this with family while throwing the darts around last night!
