Dark golden brown with a modest bit of foam in the chalice. Pleasant aroma of Black Patent malt with rice. Light body with roasted malt and moderate charred grain flavors. Some bitter aftertaste. Overall quite quaffable. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. "Canned 01NOV"-- last week? Fast train from Yakima...

16oz can (no date) poured into 14oz teku. Poured the appropriate solid black color, with 2/3 inch of light brown head that had good retention and lacing.

The aroma had a nice chocolate malt scent at the front, with a nice, smooth touch of roast in the background.

Very similar on the tongue, with the roast notes lingering at the back.

The body was light-ish for the style, but smooth and even, with a dry finish.

Drinkability was very good, drinks like I think a stout should.

Overall, a very nice example of the basic stout style, most certainly worth your time.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt with light char, cocoa and light raisins and coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, coffee, light cocoa and a hint of dark dried stone fruit in the finish. Semi-dry, roasty and coffee finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. The head is outstanding for a standard stout and the aroma and flavor, though slightly subdued are both spot on for the style and inviting. Good interaction of the coffee and char notes, chocolate is very light, but some shows up in the finish. Great flavor density for this end of the ABV spectrum. Well done. Yay! It's stout season.
