The Stillness is brimming with rich flavors from whole roasted hazelnuts, Madagascan vanilla, and Philippine cocoa nibs.

Poured from 12oz can into my BeerAdvocate teku. Canned November 2022.
Appearance: rich black hue with a thick finger of creamy, frothy dark-tan foam. Really pretty!
Smell: very sweet aroma that is very malty in nature — like, smells like a chocolate malt, though with a boozy whiskey edge. Not bad, but kind of muddled.
Taste: malty and sweet, as in the aroma. It’s got a rich flavor, but it’s not super complex; not quite as complex as its ingredient bill would suggest. So, good, but maybe not living up to its potential.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a good carbonation and a nicely smooth creaminess. Very good.
Overall: a decent enough beer, although the ratio of sweet to complexity is maybe just a bit too high for me.

More LIF beer from the homie Snaotheus. He sent me over a few from this brewery and this is the first one of them I’m having. I’m an absolute sucker for hazelnut in a Stout, so I have very high hopes for this one. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about
Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of creamy tan head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is rather subdued, but it has an elegance to it. I’m picking up on aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate, toasted hazelnut, dark toast, vanilla bean, raisin, and burnt caramel
Things are more expressive in taste but it’s still surprisingly gentle. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting milk chocolate, raisin, vanilla bean, dark bread, black cherry, sweet caramel, light hazelnut, and sweetened coffee. The swallow brings notes of roasted hazelnut, dark chocolate, black cherry, charred oak, vanilla bean, medium roast coffee, molasses, and a touch of booze
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a soft beer. Finishes mostly dry with a little boozy punch but still drinks below its abv
This one is damn tasty, and you can’t help but appreciate the restraint here

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, vanilla, hazelnuts and cocoa. Flavor follows with dark toasted malt with slight char, hazelnuts, milk chocolate and vanilla. Chocolate and nuts in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. This is exactly the kind of stout with adjuncts that I gravitate towards. All the additional flavors are present, clear notes but lightly done. Almost understated, the flavors reveal themselves slowly through the taste, but leave a pleasant chocolate nut finish. Reminiscent of a candy bar, but without the sweetness of a dessert (it is mildly sweet). Wonderful balance. Another nicely brewed stout from Single Hill.
