From the can: Dank and intense with a kick.
Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic

From Single Hill's Instagram:
This DDHWCIPA is brewed with Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic, for a classic dank IPA character, and kicked up a notch with terpenes from the Pineapple Express strain of cannabis. Happy holidays!

Canned April 23, opened june 26 , 2024

Gifted to me by @snaotheus because …why not!!??

Brewers notes: Do you smell that smell? It's DDH West Coast IPA with a kick! Tectonic Chronic features the "big three" American IPA hops and terpenes from Pineapple Express for a huge aroma of pine, grapefruit and something sticky icky. From the can: Dank and intense with a kick.

As advertised, this is a powerfully dank beer on the nose. I'm getting little else prominently (other than pine resin), although there are notes of cracker, pepper, lemon, orange marmalade, berries, and perhaps some indistinctly tropical fruity undertones. Brilliant and crystal clear appearance; good head production and decent retention.

Super dank on the palate, although it's certainly not the only flavor coming through. There's a good balance of citrus and tropical fruit, both overripe. Mouthfeel is very crispy.

Very solid WC IIPA - if you like very dank expressions.

From a 16oz can, no date on the can.

This beer pours a semi clear golden color. There's a good stream of carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. The head that forms is a 3 finger frothy looking head. Decent head retention, and a small bit of lacing on the glass.
The aroma is dank. Now the dankness isn't overpowering, but is strong. I also get a faint pineapple kick from the aroma.
The flavor is also dank tasting. The dankness is cut by a nice hit of pineapple flavor, which adds a hit of sweetness, but is mostly bitter.
The body is decent. The feeling from the bitterness lingers in my throat. I am burping up hops like crazy here.
I am not the biggest dank fan, and it can be taken too far in a beer. This beer is probably just about right, and not over the top.

Tectonic Chronic – from Single Hill Brewing. Received in a retaliatory ninja strike from @snaotheus. Reviewed 07/06/24 (Review 3290). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom side of can “CANNED 23 APR 12:23”. Stored at 39 degrees at home. Served at 47.4 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 54.8 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), hazy.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), opaque. Under direct light, same. Rear lite, translucent.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.9 cm, aggressive center pour), alabaster, high density, average retention, leaving an undulating 0.3 – 0.5 cm crown fed by carbonation and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – Weedy and dank. No yeast, no malt, no alcohol (7.9 % ABV as marked on the can).
Flavor – 4 – Begins faintly bitter with weed and markedly earthy. No yeast, no malt, no alcohol. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Slight gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium; slightly creamy; soft carbonation.
Final Impression and summation: 4 I think this is the first beer for which I’ve used the descriptor “Earthy” to cover flavor and I’m not sure I enjoyed it. Still, I keep sipping to check. Otherwise, seems to be a classic West Coast IPA.
