Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout – High above the forest floor, the crowns of mature trees mingle and blend to form the Overstory. This release pulls from a blend of barrels to present flavors of rich oak and spice atop the full-bodied roast and cocoa notes of the base Imperial Stout.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head that dissipates to large patches with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, whiskey, vanilla and light oak. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt with faint char, dark chocolate, whiskey, oaky vanilla; lightly sweet. Toasted malt and whiskey finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Quite similar to the 2024 version, but with a slightly higher ABV and a bit of sweetness that does not carry over into the finish. Fine barrel and whiskey character. The base stout malt is sturdy and supports the other flavors nicely. Not that complex, but good whiskey profile.
