Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a one finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coffee, vanilla and cocoa. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt with light char, quality coffee, vanilla beans and cocoa. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess; nice mouthfeel. A flavorful coffee stout with great vanilla that is distinct but balanced. Clear coffee bean character. The brewery description says they were aiming to present a vanilla latte profile and they nailed it. Malt is robust, but lets the latte flavor shine. Nicely done.
