Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a hazy, medium yellow-gold with a fine, one finger white head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of grainy malt, saison yeast, light lemon and a little funk. Flavor is grainy malt, saison yeast, funk, lemon, rye tartness. Dry, lightly funky finish. Medium bodied with sharp carbonation. A solid, traditional tasting saison in the French style. A little tarter than I like, but I knew that going in with rye in the name. Overall a pleasant saison, could use a little more grain character in the malt body to support the rye and moderate funk. Refreshing and hits all the notes I expect in a saison; not sure why it's not getting more love here.
