In Franconia, Germany, most small country villages still have one or more breweries that make their own signature “Landbier” lager and serve it in picturesque biergartens. Our take on Landbier is a sessionable amber lager brewed with Munich and Pilsner malts and Saphir and Santiam hops. This is the lager you never knew you’ve always needed!

Bought from H Street's Craft Beer Cellar DC near Union Station.
In adding this brew, I referred to UnTappd and they call it an Amber and have only 152 ratings, indicating a new release. Since BA's categories are not always the same (OK), I choose Vienna because Silver Branch's Landbier reminds me the most of the Vienna... even though it is across the border.

While Landbier is not a classic Vienna, it is good and deserves its average UnTappd rating of 3.82.
While it is not rich like a Vienna in Looks or Smells, it Tastes balanced and has sufficient bubbles to refresh and sip again.

As for my micro-review of Silver Branch, I like them. Only 6 years old, they have some success in the Belgian tradition and I want to try their interpretations the next time I am in DC. But what I really like about them is that their taproom is right near the Silver Spring Metro stop. Silver Spring is one of many successful suburban downtowns aided by the progressive planning of Metro. And Silver Branch probably rode that instead of being a pioneer like inner-city micros. For that reason, they should expand their offerings to Belgo-philes like me. Cheers and A Votre Sante' !
