still no separate category here on BA for a mexican lager, not sure why. i liked this one a lot, hopped up with motueka, the combination of distinctive new zealand hops on an easy lager like this is a great call, and a style variation i have been increasingly stoked on in recent months. there is great clarity to this shiny yellow brew, and a short white head as well. the hops are unique but not overdosed, a wash of fruity white wine comes up, peach and pineapple notes there, grassy too though, not totally abandoning a noble vibe. there isnt much bitterness going on, lots of fruit, but its as much about the grain as the hops, and even with the cool varietal on it, its still a really balanced brew. some light corny sweetness to the malt, and not quite as light in body and as crisp as i generally like a mexican lager to be, but the flavor is very god, even if it feels a little bigger. it could be a touch dryer. i also dont get as much flavor from the mexican yeast as i usually do, notes of lime are subtle and well behind the hops in the finish. good carbonation, the lightest of the beers on the board when we were in, and a nice twist on the style to add the motueka to it. well done overall.
