Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a fine, half finger dark chocolate head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bourbon, licorice, bakers chocolate and a little coffee. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt, bourbon, fudge, licorice and coffee; a little hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate to heavy creaminess; great mouth feel. Well, it's bittersweet to have this stout, easily best stout I've had from them and knowing this was their swansong before closing for good. This is a rich, thick and flavorful bourbon barreled stout that is as fine as the best. The fudgy coffee and chocolate flavor is great and the mouth feel is too. Like many of their stouts, this had a bitterness in the finish as if more heavily hopped than normal, but in this case, the depth of body and flavor did not make it stand out as much. Other than that small quibble (and personal taste), one of the best stout I've had this year. Sorry they have finished their brewing run, but have to say this is a hell of a way to end things. Recommended if you can find a bottle on a dusty shelf.
