i really like african queen hops, wish we saw more of them around, and this is a pretty cool expression of them, a pale and clearish golden brew with a nice white head and sparkle from the tap at the brewery. this hops always smells and tastes a little like wildflower honey to me, waxy and herbal and bright, full of solids, raw, and a bit sweet in its oil profile, and i get that here for sure, maybe more in the nose than the taste by a little bit, but this is fresh and pungent from top to bottom. subtle cut flowers, green and white tea, oranges, honey, dank weed, coal and carbon minerality, light pine, and even blueberries for some reason, very summery and in bloom to me, delicious, but a touch spicy, a tone i have not noted in these hops before but definitely pick up here, almost noble in that way, more intense as it warms and highlighting both the minerals and a cool mango note that rises up. pretty complex for such a minimalist recipe, light to drink but huge in flavor, this is a really neat hop! the fermentation is quite clean, the carbonation is there, and overall this is impressive and exciting beer. the better of the two i had in here! i wish this hop would proliferate a bit, i want to see it in a saison too, but its great in a light pale like this!
