500 ml bottle into a tulip snifter. The 2024 edition, had 5/17/25.

Pours near black and opaque, with a quarter inch foamy head and some foamy lacing. Aromas of coffee, maple, and vanilla flood your nose right away; then chocolate, malt, a little bourbon. Flavors of maple, coffee, chocolate, malt, some vanilla- more as it warms, some bourbon. Smooth, somewhat creamy, a very good full body, appropriately carbonated.

A pretty solid effort all around. All the add- ins show well, especially the coffee and maple. The barrel presence is better in the flavor than the aroma, but it’s still pretty tame overall. Would have liked more.

22oz waxed bottle from Fall 2019 release. batch 1

Appearance: black bodied beer with thick cap.

Smell: Nice barrel notes. Coffee and vanilla are the big players here with a nice maple intertwined in the aroma, but its subtle.

Taste: The weller barrels are straight money! Great topshelf bourbon barrel notes. Chocolaty stout with vanilla and maple sweetness. Coffee seems to add some roast, but its a minor player here.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. low end of moderate carbonation; just enough really. Very smooth; not very boozy at all.

Overall: This was a really stellar beer for a barrel and for the first Riverlands barrel aged beer is a show stopper. Looking forward to more of this beer, hopefully next fall.
