Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels. Tranquil is the culmination of our journey into barrel aging stout. Every version will be slightly different due to the barrels, but the base beer will always be tailored specifically with barrel aging in mind. You can always expect notes of milk and dark chocolate, vanilla, and dry oak, but the nuances of the barrel derived flavors will change depending on the blend used year to year.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. The 2023 edition, had 4/12/24.
Pours near black and opaque, with a brief head of darker foam and a little oily smear on the glass. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, prunes, oak, some bourbon, light tobacco. The barrels take the lead in the flavor: bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, oak, prunes, some vanilla and cocoa, light tobacco. Smooth, a little creamy, a solid full body, appropriately carbonated.
Really enjoyable. Terrific barrels, a great base beer, many distinct and expressive aromas and flavors. There’s a good amount of oak and chocolate notes, too.

2022 Vintage
Pours pitch black, shiny and opaque. Thin, weak mocha colored head briefly makes an appearance on the beer.
Aroma has notes of roasted malts, dark fruits, prune, some light overly ripe black cherry notes, giving way to notes of dark chocolate, oak, char, and bourbon.
Taste follows the nose with notes of roasted malts, dark fruits, dark chocolate, lots of oak and wood, some alcohol heat on the back end, and a touch of vanilla and salted caramel.
Feel is smooth, medium bodied, silky. Mild carbonation. Semi-dry finish.
Overall this is a world class barrel aged stout. Riverlands barrel program is squarely on my radar now.

Had on tap. Shimmering black with a tan cap. Smell features the blend of barrels, oak and bourbon both wonderfully backing chocolate, vanilla, molasses, and slight leather. Taste reminds me a lot of bourbon county, everything from the nose is there but the bourbon, chocolate, and vanilla lead, finishes sweet and elevated. Feel is thick, warm, smooth and lush. Really enjoyed this one, no gimmicks
