tallboy can poured into a Durobar Charente glass.
canned on date of 9/2/21.
Appearance: black bodied stout. Massive khaki colored head that pours at least 4 fingers tall from a hard pour of this stout into the glass. The head has really good staying power and it appears to be creamy and fairly dense in structure. Sticky lacing all over the glass. No booze legs to speak of.
Smell: As soon as you crack the can its overwhelmingly maple. Once poured into the glass tons of chocolate peanut butter cup notes and the maple concedes to the peanut butter aroma. Everything smells 100% authentic. This smells really incredible!
Taste: Light milk chocolate notes. Peanut butter is found permeating through most of the beer, but the peanut butter is at it's strongest in the middle and into the finish. Maple not present in much capacity at all as far as flavors go. Maybe finding a hint of it in the finish, but I have to really work for it to taste the maple.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. lower end of medium bodied carbonation. Body is on the thinner side of most Riverlands stouts, but has very pleasant creamy texture.
Overall: Picked up a can of this at Flight Tasting Room & Bottle Shoppe in Yorkville, Illinois. Prior to walking into the shop, I had never even heard of this Riverlands beer. This beer smells absolutely incredible, but the smell didn't translate into the flavors of the beer nearly as well. Still a well made beer and enjoyable for that Reese's peanut butter cup stout vibe.
