Golden yellow (SRM3-4). It is almost clear and glows in the light. Tiny bubbles form casual columns beneath a modest, fine, off-white head. The head quickly settles to a ring, leaving slight patches of lace.
The aroma is sweet, fruity, and funky. A strong backdrop of white wine gives way to cloves after slight warming. Floral aromas are quite high and similar to hyacinth.
The flavor is surprisingly different from the aroma. A pronounced earthiness combines with bitterness. Eventually, floral flavors show through, as odd as that sounds. There is an herbal quality late. The finish is long and modest. Warmth reveals cloves.
This beer is very dry without being dusty. The body is medium to full with a soft, angora texture. Light, prickly carbonation seems to elevate the alcohol well above expectations. Still, the alcohol has no heat.
This is a pleasant Farmhouse Ale, even if it does miss the style guidelines. I found it to be contemplative, as I enjoyed it on a mid-summer Afternoon.
