this is not generally the kind of saison i like to drink, the beer is pretty well made and all, especially for these guys being brand new, but its too clean, too belgian in the yeast, nothing rustic or funky about it at all, even kind of new school hoppy to me, a fine execution of a way too safe recipe, at least for my preferences with saison. its pale yellow in color, has a nice fizzy white head from the tap, and has a lot of life as i drink it, holding its carbonation really well. aroma of light white wine and green pear, a fruity belgian ester, nothing farmy or interesting about it at all, straight up belgian ale yeast at work. the flavor is balanced with some earthy wheat which i like in the style, and the hops have a southern hemisphere tropical sort of profile and are tastefully dosed here. its dry and its bubbly, and i find it almost refreshing, not too overtly belgian to be real drinkable. i was hoping for a little more character out of the yeast on this, but i cant fault the beer overall, this was pretty decent, especially if you like a cleaner saison type.
