a coffee infused version of their you-tah uncommon, a beer i didnt try. not sure how much the coffee colors this, as its quite a bit darker than i am used to in most commons ive had, but that doesnt matter to me at all, this was one of the best beers i had all weekend, a real highlight of my trip to utah, and a beer that deserves some serious attention in my opinion! looks like a dark brown or even a thinner porter in the globe they serve it in at their lovely brewery. an average tan head on top, a strong aroma of cold brewed coffee, cocoa, and earthy malts, quite complex and the coffee doesnt dominate or make this monotone, despite its boldness. interestingly, there is very little sweetness in the aroma, i thought this might be a touch more desserty, but it seems pleasingly dry. the flavor is sensational, the coffee hits right up front, but there is a ton of cool grain support, none of which is sweet, its very rustic to me, but also so well refined, downright impressive! notes of dry cocoa, root beer, and just really high end coffee, id love to know which they use in this. nice carbonation and a way lighter body than it looks like it should have, a bit of lingering roast at the end, but near gone on the swallow. world class beer, a style bender sure, but this is money!
