just a pale ale, but a good one, these guys are making some great beers, and they packed a lot into this for a 5% abv brew, its malty, its hoppy, its interesting, and its pretty bitter too, lots of flavor and i think thats a cool place to be, on the edge of ipa to me the way it drinks, certainly the more robust side of pale ale, but also not totally amazing either. reddish colored, maybe copper, bright but not fully clear, frothed up lathery white head, looks a little old school with the deeper malt color than is on trend right now, and i think the crystal malt, unless perfectly fresh, can lead to a little bit of a staleness in beers like this, and its minor here but not absent, still i like what this level of grain brings, a bit of richness, a counterbalance to the bitterness, and some body to carry all the hop flavor. the nose is a little better than the flavor in my experience with this, orange and even berry nuance to the hops, but in the flavor its a little more classically northwestern, citrus pith and pine, an almost granola thing to the grain, juniper, newspaper, a subtle almost estery thing, a lightly candied sweetness at the end, distinctive anyway, a touch catty as it warms, but a cool hop profile on this. a cool take on the style, personality to spare, maybe not as drinkable as it could be, the malt could be backed down, but i appreciate all thats happening in here, a very expressive pale, bitter finish while also being somewhat sweet, tons of movement and flow.

Taster flight at LC- Post District. Coper our, spotty head, light lacing. Aroma is a little bit malty, a little bit old school hops. Taste starts with a sweet, hoppy bite, soft caramel notes behind, bitterness gets tempered by the sweetness, for some minor coating at the finish.

Good for summer, smooth and pillowy. Tropical fruit flavors. Not bad
