Suds is a brass colored, light-bodied, malt forward session ale, that’s packed with flavor. Brewed with Two-row, Maris Otter, Carafa, and Carahell malt, a whiff or sip of Suds conjures baked biscuits, caramel, and fresh bread. The hops play second fiddle. Columbus hops were utilized to achieve a mild bitterness, while Cascade and Merkur add a subtle touch of citrus. Bust some Suds out during long lazy days by the river, beach, pool, or anywhere else you need refreshment.

Hazy amber pour with tall head that subside slowly.
Toasty malt, biscuit and caramel nose.
Grainy and earthy note with a citrus-y finish. Medium carbonation.
Overall, a good sip for summer.

From a can marked born on 3/2/16. Pours a brass color with a finger of white head. Smells of slightly sweet malts. Light feel, could use more carbonation. Taste has malt up front with a big hop presence, some citrus flavor, and a slightly bitter finish. The malt-forward session is a good idea, but I still think the mouthfeel is a bit thin.

Thanks to Speakeasy Ales & Lagers for listening to my impassioned pleas, not for mercy, but to put their beers into CANs! My surname is "ChANdler" and I love pulp fiction, so these beers are right up my alley. I took up with Scarlett under Big Daddy & Baby Daddy's noses, but that is the last that I remember. On with The CAnQuest (tm)!

From the CAN: "Legit since '97"; "Independently Owned & Operated"; "'Bust Some Suds!'"

Scarlett & I had narrowly avoided an ambush by Baby Daddy and his Pop Gunsels and we were on our way in my flivver to see my buddy, Suds LagerCAN, in the hopes that he could gain us some reprieve. I Crack!ed open the window and allowed the air & beer in unimpeded. Scarlett was pissed that I had turned her & the CAN upside down for an inverted Glug, but I explained that we were now in the midst of a gangland war and things may never again be rightside-up. She took a deep breath and we both watched as three fingers of dense, tawny head came roaring up in the glass alongside of us. I tried to lose them, but they had excellent retention, hanging tough until they suddenly folded like a weak hand of poker when we passed HQ. Scarlett took my face in her hands as if she had some new clarity about me and peered into my Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) eyes with their own NE-quality clarity. Her nose sniffed at my grassy, minty cologne which I had applied on my way out of the hotel. I could see that she appreciated the effort as she smiled and kissed me. She felt soft, but not memorable. Her taste on my lips was slightly bitter, but not as bitter as I would like from her and her ilk. I ain't doing this for kicks and I really like when they are bitter enough to repulse me to keep me in check. I had fallen hard for her once already and it nearly got me killed, but now, I was just in it to keep me sharp. We finished our kiss with me licking my lips and CANtemplating just how special she used to be, but now she just didn't hold the same cachet. Deal them cards, boyo!

From the can, pours hazy dark copper color with a very big foamy 2 finger light tan head that faded very slowly and left really good foamy lacing and rings as it went down.

Smells of biscuit, wheat bread, floral hops, toasted grains, dry party crackers, soft hints of fruit like pear or grape, mild toffee and a malty sweetness to finish it off. More bready than anything but still decent smelling.

Tastes like it smells but with a stronger hop presence that adds lemon zest, orange peel and some grapefruit and the associated mild bitterness. It then shifts back to malty and bready with some piney hops, tea leaf, coriander and pepper mixing with the wheat bread, biscuit and toffee. Much better balanced than the nose but still malt dominant.

Mouthfeel is thin and watery with flat carbonation, a body towards the medium side and a finish that's slightly bitter, grainy and on the sweet side like a bite of buttered wheat bread. Overall a decent session brew which is a nice malty alternative to all the session IPA's on the market.
