Had a pint of this beer on 5/23/11 at BJ's in San Ramon.
A: Light honey color, little head with cling. Lace and wisps in the center. Clear, with a good amount of visible carbonation.
N: Subtle fruity notes from the lager yeast; grains.
T/M: Bready sweet malt balanced by a light but spicy hop character. Light, dry mouth-feel with decent carbonation.
Pretty good for a Maibock or Helles Bock. The beer is light and the lagering yeast really is featured in this. The hop notes stay in the background, but a bit of spice to the brew.

It was on tap at BJs.
First I was surprised they even had it here.
As far as thus double knock can not say anything bad. Not exceptional but definitely compared to do Dead Guy better than good.
Aroma is nice and woody. A little Belgian floral coming thru but not much. Nice and easy to drink, light enough for me to consider it a session beer. At least for me. Holds a nice head and just a little after taste on the tongue. Would recommend to anyone.

Sampled 4/28/2011 at the Rogue Ale House in SF.
I was told this is an imperial maibock of sorts, and judging by the color and taste that seems like a reasonable assumption.
Pours clear golden yellow with some bubbles coming out of solution, thin fine white head, great lacing, only slight retention, really quite pretty.
Aroma is kind of interesting showing toastetd malts, some grape, a touch of cardboard, and some pinesol. Surprisingly not offensive despite the descriptors that come to mind.
Flavor is pretty light with some grape, corn, plenty of CO2, bitterness, grass, and toasted flavors. Kind of all over the place.
Body is light and this is more drinkable than you might expect given how strange and not to style it is. It really grew on me as I worked on the half pint.
