The coffee lover’s consummate beer. Brewed with an abundance of bitter and imported TCHO chocolates, and Howls Owl -A deep, honey-like body, with notes of ripe berry, chocolate-covered cherry, and sweet candied lemon coffee from Sight Glass Coffee, this stout has an intense fresh-roasted java nose topped with madagascar bourbon vanilla head that goes forever.

On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours black with a medium tan head. Good lace and retention.

S: Dark chocolate, some residual sugar, sweetness, molasses.

T: Has the big dark chocolate flavour with a good amount of lactose. Medium sweetness, well balanced flavour.

M: Medium-bodied, creamy, smooth and frothy.

O: A good beer for sure. Milk Stout is tough to find, I'm glad somebody made another one.

Served on-draught into a plastic cup at Speakeasy. The plastic cup is their way of doing things and instantly turned me off. If we reviewed presentation, they'd be in deep shit. Stouts are me favourite style and I'd previously had the payback porter from Speakeasy, so I was excited to try this. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a one finger head of nice cream, good thickness, nice tan colour, and good retention. Colour is a solid black.

Sm: Milk, cream, and light coffee. A moderate strength aroma.

T: Cream, milk, and light roast, with some caramelized malt. Simple for a stout, and a touch imbalanced. Chocolate is present. Built pretty well, and decently balanced.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Coarse and dry on the finish, though it should be throughout. If you want to brew a porter, brew a porter.

Dr: Very drinkable - strangely so for the style. Decent quality. I guess I'd have it again.

Had this on tap at the Speakeasy Monsters of Rock Haunted Halloween Firkin Friday party on 10/28. Got to see Midnight Chaser live and sample some awesome beers.

This poured a dark brown/black with a well-formed dark tan head and plenty of retention. Poured into a plastic cup, lacing was hard to detect.

Rich, dark chocolate aromas mingling with a lighter caramel-like sweetness.

More dark chocolate coming through on the flavor with hints of smokiness. Residual sweetness is present in the medium finish and offers a nice balance against the prevent dark chocolate/dark malt.

Medium-full to full bodied with a moderate level of carbonation.

Overall this is a delicious brew. Like many of Speakeasy's darker offerings, they have nailed it again. The dark chocolate flavor is ever present in the cup and nose and there's plenty of residual sweetness to keep things balanced. Rich, delicious, and very drinkable.
