Bottle poured into a Speakeasy Ales & Lagers pint glass

A: Pours deep golden orange amber with a frothy golden off white head that settles to a firm layer that hangs around and laces well.

S: Bright citrus, tropical fruit, pine, caramel malt sweetness, and maybe even a bit toasty.

T: Fruity up front, kinda strawberry and a little melon, peach, tropical fruit, mango, passion fruit, citrus, tangerine, for the first half, then grapefruit, pine and peppery spice dominate the second half, with some lightly toasty notes, and a little caramel/toffee sweetness. Solid bitterness throughout, a hint of alcohol can come out as it warms.

M: A bit towards the fuller end of medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: There's a lot going on in this one, maybe not an every day drinker, but I like it.

Look: poured into a shaker glass, a nice dark amber with a small white head that defuses quickly

Smell: Tropical and pine, as is typical with "West Coast" IPAs

Taste: a sharp hop taste on the nose to it, didn't taste the malt as others said, pine flavors pervade over others throughout

Feel: Medium-full bodied, hop oils sticking to teeth, nice carbonation that keeps it drinkable as it warms

Overall: An alright IPA, better IPAs done in the "west coast" style (Ballast Point Sculpin comes to mind), but if you appreciate full blown hops in a style similar to Sierra Nevada's offerings, then its worth investigating.

Some sort of dirty, old hop smell gives way to an herbal bitter flavor that finishes with some sort of disgusting dirty water character. I would almost think it were skunked, except it's on draft.

A bright hoppy nose with fruity and citrus tones.
The color is a brilliantly clear amber with a taller head atop.
Alot of carbs, fast rising too.
The taste was okay. It was hoppy and bitter but not exactly flavorful either.
The beer is quite bitter. And the finish is long and bitter too.
I like this beer it was good, I thought there would be more flavor judging by the label.

Pours cloudy copper amber color with a creamy 2 finger light tan head that faded slowly and left very good spotty lacing and rings as it went down.

Smells of mango, pineapple, orange, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, Frosted Flakes, buttered wheat bread, piney hops, lemon, fresh fruit and lots of citrus hops. Aroma is very fruity, with fresh citrus hops coming out really strong and a nice malty backbone that adds nice balance.

Tastes just like it smells with tangerine, mango, pineapple, orange, starfruit, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, wheat bread, gummy bear candy, piney hops, lemon, fresh fruit like apple and pear, more citrus hops and crackers like Ritz crackers. Tasty fresh citrus hops control the flavor and have a potent sweetness that works well with the malt backbone. A solid IPA that's smooth and completely hides the ABV. I'd definitely have it again.

Great sweet hoppy scent. Taste pretty hoppy and sweet. Noticeable citrus notes. Malt is there. There is an subtle alcohol aftertaste. Speakeasy is always good for me.

22oz poured into a snifter.

This is a really nice dank hoppy and bitter IPA. Its a limited series but hopefully it becomes a year round release. Its a little warm from the moderately high 7.6% abv but very tasty and great for the style. Definitely buying this again and recommend to anyone that can get their hands on it .

Another great beer from my favorite brewery. the Big Daddy IPA from speakeasy is really good but I think Vendetta crushes it! Not too overpowering for an IPA with a nice citrus flavor. Very refreshing beer.

Picked up a bomber from Total Wine in early June for $5.99. Received at TW on 5/1/14 - the 2014 version was available April-June.

Beer poured orange with a nice head that is leaving lacing behind.

Nose is very pungent with citrus and tropical fruits.

Taste is pretty balanced. Malts are fairly light and the citrus and mango hops blend pretty well. Finish is not as abrasive as expected.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, not overly smooth or refreshing.

Overall a pretty solid IPA. Love the fragrance of this brew but the taste was not matching but still good nonetheless. Give it a shot if you see it.

A-Pours amber with some haze. Head is pretty thick. It retains well. Leaves chunks of lace.

S-Aroma is pleasantly fruity in its hoppiness. Label says its Citra and Amarillo- yeah I can grasp that pretty easily, it's straightforward and the nose isn't really aggressive but it brings out the crucial aspects of the hops. Tropical, lightly floral, citrusy and grassy.

T-The flavor is a mirror image of the aroma. It's got all the tasty aspects you want in this hop combination. Citrus, bright tropical fruit, grass, and so forth. Malt is caramel and pale and well balanced.

M-Sneaky bitterness. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Status quo through and through.

O-I liked this beer a lot. It managed to strike a chord with me, which can be very rare with the IPA style.

On tap at Instant Replay in Canoga Park, CA.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, earth, herbal hop, and slight citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with earth, floral, and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is quite earthy in the smell and taste.

Toured the Speakeasy brewery yesterday while drinking a tulip of Vendetta. Really, really delicious. The nose is exquisite, and the taste lives up to the promise. Fantastic. Of course, drinking it at its utmost freshness doesn't hurt, nor does the wafting fermentation going on all around. This will be my next keg buy.

A: Pours a medium to dark amber color with a fair amount of off-white head. A fairly solid layer retains, leaving medium lacing.

S: Honeyed sweetness underneath floral hops.

T: Sweet grain leading into floral hops with a pretty significant bitter kick on the finish. Nice overall assuming you like IPAs, though.

M: Medium body, medium to high carbonation.

Overall, a nice IPA. It's balanced a bit on the bitter side but certainly not too far.

The Vendetta IPA from Speakeasy is Goood! The beer poured a hazy orangish with foamy white head that is leaving a nice lace. The scent carried a nice pine hop with subtle citrus flare. The taste was a very well balance between the bitterness of the hops and sweet malt. Toward the end...the bitterness prevails....but that is what makes it good. The pine and slight citrus are present throughout. The mouthfeel is medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall this is a nice beer...would want more on the nose tho.

Appearance- dark amber color, nice size head, nice lacing

Smell- strong hop and malt smell

Taste- some hops, strong malt flavor for an IPA

Mouthfeel- medium bodied

Drinkability- It was ok. I think it would have been better with more hop flavor in it. It was a little bit too malty for an IPA.

This bottle was brought back from NYC. Reviewed from notes. Poured from bomber into a Westbrook pint glass.

A: Clear deep gold, with about a finger's worth of white head. Visible carbonation on the low side.

S: Grassy, pine, herbal, and a bit of dank hops with a nice cracker malt in the background.

T: Big grassy, herbal and melon wiht the pine and a bit of spicy hop presence, and a nice malt profile with just a bit of caramel flavor. Mild bitterness lingers after the swallow.

M: Medium to a bit heavy body for an IPA. Good carbonation sensation and low alcohol presence.

O: Overall, a pretty good IPA but nothing that truly makes it stand out from the crowded room of its peers. This is my first beer from Speakeasy and it was plenty good enough to make me interested in finding a few more brews from them - but maybe not a repeat performance of this particular one.

A- This beer's got a share of haziness but it's minimal. The color is golden brown; maybe it's SRM is 10. The head retention is good, no better.
T- The taste is clearly hopped with slight cereal taste, but well balanced.
O- It's an IPA with a perfectly balanced hop addition. Love Citra and Amarillo!

Super tasty shocker beer from the back of the fridge. I bought it on a whim and I feel I lucked out. It is pleasantly crisp with a nice citra after taste. It's my first beer from Speakeasy and definitely not my last. I'll be honest...limited addition sold...it was well worth it....

A: Nothing too special, aside from the head upon pour. Crystal clear amber, a darker looking IPA, with a very substantial puffy white head. As it settles the head becomes less attractive - spotty lacing, uneven retention.

S: Not very pungent - takes a big swirl and the nose all the way in the glass to get the aroma. Really nice hop pairing. Some tropical fruit astringency in mango and pineapple, resinous grass and some pine, bitter grapefruit rind. Also getting some pilsner malt.

T: Really nice. Not incredibly bitter, very balanced. Getting a lot more malt than the nose predicted and less fruit astringency. Decently resinous and grassy. Very tasty.

P: Medium bodied, a little low on carbonation. Finishes dry.

O: Really enjoyable IPA at a reasonable price. Not aggressively cirtra and amarillo, but a nice balanced combo. However, I did not have the freshest bottle.

22oz brown bomber with no freshness date.

One of the best looking heads this year, trail of lacing is awesome to track as well. Nearly clear pale amber color. Hoppy aroma of tangerine zest, fresh grass and hemp seeds ... hint of biscuity grain as well. Semi-pungent pulling hop bitterness, fresh graininess with undertones of biscuity grain. Yeast, ripe apples, melon rind, tangerine pith, powdered aspirin and some warmth. A lot going on but still drinkable. Hoppy finish that ends dry.

This is a big IPA ... not too far off from being a DIPA. A whole lot of fun to drink, very "West Coast".

22oz bottle into a Lagunitas wide mouth glass. No bottling date.

Pours a rich copper color with a 1 inch white head. bubbles shoot to the top. nice looking pour. The smell is very nice too, citrusy aroma with the hop scent dominating. The taste is exceptional, great blend of malts and hops here. Not the typical overwhelming hop bomb that are most west coast IPAs (though that isn't a negative.) This one is much more easy drinking. It's so balanced. Medium bodied with medium carbonation, goes down smooth and easy.

Overall 4.25's across the board. Received this as part of a beer of the month club and am thoroughly impressed. Much better than I was expecting.

22oz bomber poured into a tulip

A- Pours a hazy golden orange. A one finger of an off white head with good retention.

S- Sharp pine, a fresh citrus, orange peel.

T- A more balanced profile then I was expecting. A big bitterness up front. A sharp citrusy hop profile to this beer. A big orange peel and a pineapple. A sharp pine. A very clean and fresh tasting IPA. A bready and buttery malt backbone to this beer. Surprisingly balanced.

M- A moderate feel to this brew. About what you would expect from the ABV. A decent bitterness and a clean aftertaste.

O- A very solid IPA. One of those beers your surprised its not hated higher. I can tell mine is quite fresh however. Good stuff.

A: medium amber beer with an inflatable head (i.e., as big as you want it to be) of dense off-white, traces of lace linger, head persists all the way down

S: doesn't lean too far in either hop direction - balance between the pine and citric types, subtle malt background

T: mellow bitterness, smooth maltiness, hints of pine resin and barley grain

M: medium weight and carbonation, smooth, slight bittering effect, clean finish

O: a serviceable IPA, well-crafted and all, but relatively indistinct from its competitors

Big foam up in the glass. Eventually settles down to a drinkable liquid with what looks like off-white whipped cream clinging to the glass. Pleasant piney scent.

Robust flavor, seriously hopped. A dry and bitter hoppiness with a sharp resiny taste. Hot and spicy on the tongue with plenty of carbonation left. Medium body with a significant amount of malt. A touch of sweetness on the tongue. Aftertaste is just plain bitter. This is better with some food and sipped carefully.

From the 22 oz bottle bought at Barons Marketplace in San Diego.

Growler filled at DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY.

Pours darker amber, and murky. Medium tan head, stays for a bit, then going to a very tiny bubble film and all sorts of high, fine and coating sheeting and lace.

Piney hop and grapefruit nose.

Resin and pine infused hoppy brew. I also get some slight grapefruit character, some smoky peat and maybe a bit of chocolate malt.

Tasty and complex APA, worth a try. Glad to able to enjoy this one via a fresh growler pour
