Thanks to FBarber for sending this gem.
Pours like nectar straight from the Abyss, damn near black. Cocoa to brown head forms with tiny bubbles that are almost metallic in their sheen. Head dissipates after a few minutes, slight lacing.
Nose is a much, smooth ride of cocoa and hazelnut. Hints of toasted caramel, dark baking chocolate, warm ganache, and hints of toasted almond.
Flavor abounds with the deep chocolate with hazelnut fully realized in the mix. It's full and decadent, yet not cloyingly so. As it warms a hint of char comes in as well.
Mouthfeel is full, syrupy, and a tad warm.
Overall, a nightcap beer.

I'm a HAZELNUT junkie. This beer rocks.
Look: Typical stout darkness.
Smell is amazing, Hazelnut, Cocoa for days.
Taste follows the nose, chocolate hazelnut goodness.
Feel is medium thick, nice.
Overall, amazing exactly what I remember from batch1.

Aroma is hazelnuts, dark chocolate and dark malts. The flavor is fruit, nuts/hazelnuts, dark malts and an acidic/dark fruit/slight vinous/alcoholic finish.

2023 batch 1 poured right from the fridge. Pour is pitch black. No head whatsoever, just a lacy film on top with a few brown bubbles around the rim. The smell hits you over the head with hazelnut like a shedgehammer. Holy schikes. Taste is also all hazelnut, aftertaste is slight bitterness from a combo of hops and cocoa nibs. Very thick and sticky. Even smoother as it warms. Pretty, pretty good.

Is it great? Yes. Is it worth all the hype? I have to say no. It’s a flavor filled beer, yes. It’s a goddamn candy bar in a glass. Hazelnut for days, chocolate coating every taste bud I have, rich, thick, full bodied and syrupy and a simply decadent dessert in a glass. Maybe I drank it too early and the hazelnut might fade to give it a better blend. But I had it tonight, I’m happy I did, but I’d say you’d be foolish to spend three figures on this beer.

Thick pour with very little carbonation. Very hazelnutty - smells exactly like nutella. Tastes like it too with lots of chocolate and nuts, almost too overpowering, but without a doubt one of the better stouts I've tasted. Hopefully the barrel rounds it out - should be phenomenal. Look forward to more from Phase Three.

Released 5/19/19; drank 5/25/19 @ the Palace.

Midnight black appearance.

Small tan head; almost no lace.

Strong hazelnut & milk chocolate notes in the nose.

Smooth, silky, thick mouthfeel. Wow!

Milk chocolate flavors up front with a nice hazelnut finish; sweet, for sure, but the mouthfeel is so luxurious that it feels appropriate.

A killer first stout for Phase Three!
