16oz can. No dating information found.
Unfiltered for clarity, pale straw colored body. Thin white head sticks around as an interrupted cap and ring. No lacing.
Aroma of cloves, coriander, and bubble gum.
Taste is orange peel, lemon, and spices - including pepper and cloves. Tangy wheat. All continue into the aftertaste.
Medium mouthfeel. Very drying in the mouth. Good carbonation.
Presents as a effervescent wheat with yeast flavors and add ins. Good pairing with protein meal.

Bought from Beermiscuous, my main source for Chicagoland micros.
With over 200 beers in only two years, Phase Three has been doing lots of experimentation. And Floating Free is not a bad experiment. Of the 200, four have been wheat beers and two were wits. While there is nothing wrong with Floating Free, it is no big deal. And its averageness is what I'd expect from a brewer that overwhelming produces IPAs and strong stouts. I like Phase Three, their brew proclivity is matched by a sophisticated website. But Floating Free doesn't get a review, just some advice: stick to your knitting.
