Pours a fizzy bubbly 1/2 finger head with med retention, messy lacing, dark brown basically black color
Nose brings some of that farmhouse notes, farmhouse funk and a bit of tartness, an earthy root-beer like spice notes almost chicory like, a little roast like and coffee notes, earthy bready malt notes, a bit of coffee and hint smokey note, very low barrel and whiskey
Taste brings more of the mild sour tart funk, fair farmhouse funky like notes, a bit more of the earthy chicory like thing, a bit of mild oak barrel but barely, buttery oak but almost no whiskey, some bready malt like a multi-grain bread, a touch of dark malt and coffee malt, a bit biscuity, dry finish with a bit of sour notes but not really flemmy, a touch astringent though
Mouth is med bod, med fizzy carb, fair tartness with low acidity, not flemmy, touch of astringency
Overall eh, OK malt character, OK farmhouse although the dark malts and tart funk usually don't blend well and this is no exception, not a great mesh of flavors, and I bought since I though the Blanton's barrel would help, but it was almost non-existent, probably like a 3rd or 4th fill or something.

Pours a dark brown almost black. A little charcoal on the nose. Thought I got a touch of lacto tartness on the nose. However, this is mostly chocolate forward with notes of coffee and oats on the finish. There's a touch of tang but not much in terms of bourbon heat. The tang is kind of a sour cherry or dried cherry character. Some of the bourbon shows up as it goes from cellar temp to room temp but this is by not means hot. I really enjoyed this.
