Pours a dark burgundy with heavy fog, showing a flashlight directly against it, but otherwise looking black. Head is a finger of khaki head that's more fizz than foam. Aroma is heavy caramel, toffee, molasses, fig, and raisins with some oak, char, and whiskey just behind. The latter adds a swell of heat, which does decent to counter some of the initial sweetness. Flavor profile is caramel, toffee, molasses, burnt sugar, and resiny, herbaly hops. Some char and whiskey tacks on the back, escalating the heat level. While heat doesn't protrude unnaturally, it does develop a heating effect every sip. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a still texture that drags a little silt across the tongue. Overall, a tame barleywine that's been pumped up by some hot whiskey and barrel.

Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 16oz can.

16oz undated can poured into a snifter at 55° Fahrenheit 13% ABV. The beer pours opaque medium brown in color with cola like light brown head. The head fizzles away in seconds leaving on an incomplete ring of tiny bubbles rising and popping from the bottom of the glass. The aroma is mild with bourbon and malt. The taste is semisweet bourbon soaked caramel with a side of raisins and chocolate. Minimal bitterness, but the barrel char and subtle alcohol heat balance the malt sweetness. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, an enjoyable sipper with plenty of punch.

Received from @harrison8. Poured from undated can into a snifter at 58°. It pours mahogany in color with a thin, light mocha-color head than fizzled away quickly leaving minimal lacing. On the nose there is caramel/toffee, cola, raisin, fig, and subdued bourbon. As I sip it I'm tasting cola, toffee, vanilla, and much heavier bourbon, which is warming. It's a tad thin in mouth feel with lively carbonation and the 13% ABV is evident. Overall, this Barleywine has all the elements I expect but it seems a bit jumbled; the flavors don't mesh as smoothly as I'd like to see.

16oz can. Poured out a clear, dark amber/burgundy color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It let very little lacing on the glass. It smelled of bourbon, oak, vanilla, toffee and dried dark fruits. Sweet toffee and caramel taste with oak, vanilla, bozziness and some raisin/fig.
