Pours black with a finger of beige khaki foam. Aroma is mild and biting coffee on the nose. Chocolate and toffee add some extra depth to the nose, with roasty and toasty malts adding some firm support underneath. Bourbon at the end adds a touch of elevation change. Flavor profile is bitter coffee that feels slightly overcooked. Roasty, toasty, caramely, and bready malts and twangy cherry round out the body of the flavor profile. Bourbon and heat rise at the end, not really as a separate note or chapter in the beer's saga, but rather as a subtle shift in dynamics. Mouth feel is thick with a smooth texture. It has some stillness of a cold brew, with some hearty stout texture mixed and spaced out through the interstitial space. Overall, coffee heavy, which is great.
