watermelon blonde ale, real simple and light beer but with quite a lot of watermelon to it, natural too, its sweet but no more than watermelon is anyway, its not like malty sweet, and importantly, its not fruit syrup or extract sweet either, which suggests some real authenticity to the fruit. i smell and taste all parts of the watermelon too, partially because the base beer is so light, like just a little pale crackery malt to it, but nothing in the ferment or from any hops at all, so the subtly of the fruit can be fully appreciated. i get some bitter fleshy rind, the lush juicy flesh, and it seems ripe, the height of summer here. it tricks you into thinking its too much watermelon, but thats just because the blonde ale itself is so minimal. it is on the dry side, not quite as crisp and fast finishing as it could be, or as i would like it to be for a summer crusher, and the carbonation is a step below where these flavors seem to want it to be, but they got the hardest part of this right, which is the watermelon character. lots of potential here, cool effort, this place is doing some good things in small town montana...
