Sampling a cold 500 ml bottle poured into my snifter. The beer was purchased at the brewery about a week ago.
The beer pours a clear amber to copper color with a light and fluffy eggshell colored head of 3 cm foaming up even with a fairly gentle pour. The foam sticks around as a creamy surface covering throughout my entire sampling, also leaves dense lattice on my glass after each sip or as I swirl my glass.
The aroma on this beer is malt forward, which is exactly what the label promises, with toasted grains and caramel and a good hit of biscuity malt. There is a slight hop balancing note of herbal hops. But malts are the show here.
First sip reveals a medium to light body with mild and spacious carbonation. The texture is smooth and this beer drinks really easy.
Flavor is caramel and biscuit notes with again a bit of toasted grain, and then finishes very dry with some black tea flavor from hops. NO hint of the 7% ABV, which enhances the high drinkability of this beer.
Glad I stopped at this brewery when visiting friends in Saugerties, Ive liked the beers Ive had from them and it is cool to do their own malting for the beers they brew.
