Palomino Pilsner pours a deep golden hue with fluffy white head. Spicy and herbal hop notes on the nose, with light sweet cereal note in the background. Medium full body and a natural carbonation adds a pleasant mouthfeel with a slightly sweet malt backbone giving way to a crisp hop character. Herbs and light floral notes from the hops linger as a hint of bitterness stays on the palate.

Poured 473ml can into a pint glass. A scant one finger fine white head on a foggy light amber. The head diminishes to a thin layer that sticks around. Lots of patchy lacing.
Noble hops in the nose. The taste is sweet grainy malts up front. Some pepper. Floral hops. A fairly mild hop finish.
A medium/light body and good carbonation. Overall a fine Czech Pilsner. True to the style and well worth a try.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a nonic pint glass. From The Roundhouse Centre LCBO on Howard Ave. in nearby Windsor. My third beer from the Montreal, Quebec brewery, and second for 2025...

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 7 2025 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear, pale golden-yellow colour, generating one finger of loose, soapy white head that collapses within ninety seconds. A thin collar and a filmy cap remain on the surface, with plenty of lace deposition as the level drops; lookin' good. Clean aroma of grainy malts, bread and light cereal sweetness, punctuated by spicy, herbal hops and a hint of lemon.
This is a quality pils; it's clear they didn't skimp or cut any corners with this one. Grainy, bready malts and biscuity sweetness are countered by grassy hay and spicy, herbal hops. Mild bitterness with a grainy, spicy conclusion that fades to off-dry. Light in body, with moderate carbonation that prickles the palate with each sip; very crisp and extraordinarily drinkable.
Final Grade: 4.01, an A-. I have nothing but praise for Matron's Palomino: this is quite likely the best new pilsner I've tried in 2025, and I rank it very highly compared to the majority of its Ontario-brewed competition. Hell, I think it's just as good as my typical go-to Czech pilsners, Budvar and PU - though at $4.40 per serving, the imports are likely a better value proposition. If you're pining for a pils, do yourself a favour and pick up a few of these tallboys - the stock around here has already run dry, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for more in the near future.
