473ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase. Canned December 19, 2023.
Appearance - Mostly clear, coppery brew. A half finger of white head is poured and stays a bit. A few bubbles.
Smell - Quite sweet with some bready notes and apple skins. Maybe a hint of grape.
Taste - Pretty crisp with lightly toasted grains and a hint of apple. Not nearly as sweet in flavor as the nose thankfully. Some of the sweetness does build after after a few sips though.
Mouthfeel - Quite crisp with semi-dry finish and moderate carbonation.
Overall - A decent Kolsch that tastes good and is pretty crushable. Worth trying.

473 mL can from TBS; dated Dec 1 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear orange-amber colour, generating one finger of soapy, off white-coloured head that falls apart within two minutes or so. A thin, creamy collar and patchy film remain in place; there's no lace at first, but it does deposit swaths as the level drops with each sip. The aroma includes hints of grain and bready sweetness, with suggestions of orchard fruit and corn chips.
The flavour profile is bready and a little doughy, with hints of apple and grape cropping up mid-sip. Finishes with coarse grainy sweetness and lingering fruitiness; slightly corny-sweet aftertaste that trends off-dry. Light in body, with moderate carbonation that lends a crisp, proper bite to this brew's smooth mouthfeel. Very easy to drink - I could enjoy a few of these on the patio in warm weather, no fuss at all.
Final Grade: 3.62, a B grade. Purple Skull's Purple Kölsch is a half-decent example of its style that I wouldn't immediately dismiss based on its tacky-looking label ('corny-looking' was just too obvious). A little sweet, a little fruity - and fortunately the purple corn is not a major factor, though it is at least a little bit noticeable in both the aroma and flavour profile. But seriously... change the label, it looks like something slapped together with clipart software from the 90s.
