A collaboration with King River Brewing, this Italian Pilsner is true to its name (it is soft) and its style (the nearest BA has is German pils.) I always like it when two micros get together to brew and learn from each other. Rocky Ridge also is one of the micros more concerned about sustainability that I've run across. Also of note... they are young, yet pour out of four taprooms, centered over 100 km south of Perth... so relatively remote. For bringing a heightened brewing culture to that somewhat isolated part of the world, I give Rocky Ridge very good Overall Hugs.
Piano Looks average, not enough foam mostly from a weak yeast. Smells are mostly malt and not much else. However, Tastes are well balanced and delicate; suitable for Italian food which, tonight, was fusilli and red sauce. Piano also was a nice complement to a simple salad. Medium-mouthed, not easy to achieve in a brew needing a better yeast.
I'd like to see how Piano has progressed next year and try other offerings from Rocky Ridge.
