Bewery describes this as a Belgian Dark Ale. It's not exactly yeasty, but it dries out for the finish. toasty grains. Pleasantly sharp to go with the fruit-like flavors. I wouldn't say it tastes like plums, but there is a dark fruitiness that goes well with the mineral edge. Not very sweet, but malty and it has a substantial body.
Overall, this is really good— a moderate ABV brew with just enough Belgian character. On tap at the brewpub in northeast Portland. A pint for $4.75— now there's a deal. But all the brews at Ex Novo are a deal. [From notes at May 14, 2015 tasting]
