I love the name of this beer, what better name could there be for a winter warmer style beer. Anyway, this beer does have nice clarity but is lacking in head and lacing but the dark butterscotch color is right on par with what this beer should be.
A bit lighter of a mouth feel than most of the warmers that I have had, also with a lighter aftertaste. Umm. Although there was some of the very light alcohol, Butterscotch, Scotch-ish tastes in this beer that I love it also had a bit of a burnt taste that was a bit of a turn off that I can't get around. Oh well, I still enjoyed this pint.

At the Crosscut Taproom in Castle Rock WA. Rich dark brown pour, good aroma of malts, chocolate and toffee. Taste is a bit light for the style, but no real faults.

It's a great beer but it doesn't taste like a red. It tastes like a porter. It looks like a porter. I checked the date on mine and I'm in the clear by months. I don't know how to rate it within the parameters given because it doesn't match any profile of its given category here. I didn't regret the purchase but I wouldn't call this a red at all.

With a beer like this, the ratings here are stupid. Look, smell, and feel come after beer type. This beer fails at its intention but tastes great. There's no way to except that without text review.

Edit: If you've ever been to Portland, you know those people are boozehounds. There are taprooms in grocery stores and you can have a whisky while getting a shave and/or haircut. Your barber will also be having a whisky. Maybe this was a legitimate red that they just forgot about. Couldn't bother reprinting labels. It's still beer, whatever.

This thing is a fucking porter.

22 oz bottle purchased from Life Source Grocer in Salem OR $5.79 Pours a cloudy coca-cola colour..small bubbly tan head. Deep malty aromas..treacle, chocolate and nuts. Taste similar to the taste, but with a nice molasses / demerara sugar aspect..but not to sweet. Nice smooth and semi thick mouth feel..ideal for the season. I liked this one..good PNW English Strong Ale..yes it makes sense in my head.

Deep reddish brown color. Thin tan head with streak lacing. Aroma is bittersweet. Toasted and caramel malt with honey, anise, & citrus. Herbal qualities in the aroma and flavor. Hints of coffee, pine, orange and clove all blended with toasted malt. Delicious!
