I normally try to avoid tropical fruit flavors, be they real or conjured, as I'm allergic to about half of those commercially available in the United States.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I, therefore, never really cared for the aroma and taste of guava; I know to identify it pretty quickly as it does sport a pretty distinct and deadly aroma if I were to actually try and consume it, but again, never considered it to be pleasant.
But when it's applied as an aroma and a flavor booster to a fresh batch of a well-balanced IPA, count me a fan, because this combination is pretty damn hard to say "no" to. It complements and reacts with the dried orange peel and the canned sweet fruit hops profile of Eliot with such synchronicity that you'll be left wondering why they don't brew this year-round.
Either way, I feel privileged to have access to fresh beers like these with relative ease. I dare say I even feel spoiled.

As opposed to it's base beer, this one pours a murky deep orange with a thin white head.
Smells very fruity up front as the infused guava definitely takes front and center. Some grapefruit and pine follow.
Flavor is the same with the guava being very pronounced.
Feel is a good blend of juicy and crisp, with a decent amount of bitterness to finish it off.
Overall, this is a good variation of Eliot, but I prefer the original to it. Cheers!
