Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a one finger dark khaki head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, toasted coconut, milk chocolate and nuts. Flavor is dark toasted malt, almonds, coconut, milk chocolate and mild bourbon. Coconut and chocolate in the finish. Medium bodied with silky moderate creaminess. A nicely integrated barreled stout. The busy adjunct bill is well balanced and melds well with the rich malt body. I got no bourbon in the aroma and only a touch in the taste, but that was enough. The flavor mix leans pastry stout, but fortunately this is only slightly sweet, letting the malt shine. The almond component was particularly well done and mellow. I liked this more than I expected. The Kill the Sun series has been great.

2021 can from Market of Choice.
Black with a thin, rapidly receding brown head. The nose has a lot of coconut with some chocolate, a blend of milk and dark. Almond isn't really noticeable. The base stout has some boozy, bourbon warmth, with vanilla. The palate opens sweet and with a potent boozy warmth that makes it feel lighter than it is. Mild licorice and anise, but this is a simpler stout. Loads of coconut, sweet and creamy, with lots of oily, fleshy fruit flavor. Warming on the finish. Borderline pastry.

Ink black body, opaque; thin, light khaki colored head. Monstrous aroma of roasted grain, grain char, almonds, chocolate., brown sugar. The taste builds on the aroma; slightly sweeter flavor; bitter; subdued booziness. Heavy body; moderately heavy residual sugar presence; a bit sludgy; alcohol heat gently undercuts the sweetness.
A well-rounded booze bomb, dark and lovely.
