A fabulous mix of spices, tea, vanilla, and espresso make up our Dirty Chai blend. Our base imperial stout aged for a year in bourbon barrels, was conditioned on vanilla, black tea, cinnamon. cardamom, ginger, allspice, and cloves. We then added rich espresso roasted coffee to round out this delightfully complex offering.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, chai spicing (cinnamon, cardamom and allspice), tea and coffee; light booziness. Flavor is dark toasted malt, black tea, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, bourbon, mild coffee and vanilla; some cocoa develops into the finish with has lingering chai spiciness. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Tastes much like I'd expected and with authentic tasting chai character. Cocoa and coffee notes are light. The overall flavor is busy and with fairly complex spiciness. Tea has never seemed to meld with stouts as well as coffee for my palette, but this was enjoyable since I was expecting the spices. Coffee and bourbon take a back seat, but add a little more novelty to the blend.
