We took generous amounts of Guatemalan cacao nibs, toasted coconut flakes, and toasted whole pecans to infuse into our rich Kill The Sun base. Decidedly sweet yet surprisingly drinkable. This beer explodes with notes of coconut, caramel, dark and bittersweet chocolate, light roast coffee, and a hint of nuttiness.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a quarter finger dark khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bourbon, cocoa and faint coconut. Flavor is dark toasted malt, bourbon, milk chocolate, coconut and a faint nuttiness. Medium bodies with light to moderate creaminess. The usual deep, rich Kill the Sun malt base with fine bourbon barrel character and some chocolate, coconut and nuts. This has the key flavors from German chocolate cake, but somewhat subdued. I'm good with that, I love this stouts base quite a bit and a little interesting flavor from the dessert without the sweetness suits me well. This is the best version from last year. It appears that Ex Novo is lowering its profile here in the Northwest, but I really hope to see variants of this again, it's one of my favorite stout series.
